Maria Leal da Costa finished her education at Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa, attended several ateliers on stone work and has continued her investigation in a very personal way, experimenting and exploring the plasticity of the stone, bronze and iron and applying the very same principles to painting. Thus her meticulous concentration
on subjects related to the greatness of the soul and travelling. The explored language refers to the expression of the materials, worked to convey lightness, poetry and mystery to the final result. Her style is characterized by a great simplicity combined with an 'ostinato rigore' allowing the spirit of dreams tocome out from the Earth.
